Why is my video still processing?
After a video uploads, Relyve may still be preparing it for playback. Larger files take longer.
Last updated
Once a video has finished uploading, Relyve may still need to prepare it so it plays smoothly in the gallery. The thumbnail can show “Processing” while that happens.
Our servers are preparing the video for playback. That can take time depending on the size of the file. A short clip is usually ready sooner than a long 4K video.
- Confirm the upload itself has finished in the upload queue.
- Leave the video in the gallery. You do not need to keep the phone open for processing after the upload is done.
- Refresh the gallery after a short wait. Playback appears when processing is complete.
On the 1 TB and 3 TB plans, and during the trial, videos are prepared this way so clients get a smooth stream. Photos do not go through the same step.
What video transcoding means
Phones and cameras can record the same visual quality in many different formats. Transcoding prepares an uploaded video in a form that browsers can stream consistently. It lets playback begin without making the client download the entire original file first.
Relyve preserves the uploaded original for original-quality delivery while preparing a playback version for the gallery. Processing time varies with the video’s duration, resolution, frame rate and file size, so a long 4K recording naturally takes more work than a short clip.
Upload complete and processing complete are different
Upload complete means the file has left the phone successfully. Processing complete means the gallery playback version is ready. Closing the app after the upload finishes does not stop server-side processing. Refresh the gallery later rather than uploading the same file again.
Contact support if Processing changes to an error, or if one video remains in Processing much longer than other files of a similar size. Include the file name and approximate size.
