How to set up a custom domain for your galleries
Connect a subdomain such as gallery.yourdomain.com so client links use your own address.
Last updated
A custom domain lets clients open galleries from an address you own, instead of the default Relyve link. It is included on the 1 TB and 3 TB plans, and during the free trial. The 100 GB and 500 GB plans include branding without a custom domain.
- Open Brand in the Relyve app and find Custom Domain.
- Enter a subdomain such as gallery.yourdomain.com. Relyve needs a subdomain with at least three parts, not your bare domain alone.
- Tap to connect the domain. Relyve shows the CNAME record to add at your domain provider.
- In your domain provider’s DNS settings, create that CNAME exactly as shown in the app.
- Back in Relyve, tap “I've added DNS”, then “Verify domain”.
- Wait a few minutes if verification is still pending. DNS can take a short while to update, then try Verify domain again.
When the status says Active, your custom domain is live. Removing it sends client galleries back to the default Relyve URL. If you get stuck on DNS, write to support with the domain you are trying to connect.
What a custom domain changes
A custom domain replaces the Relyve address clients see with a subdomain belonging to your studio, such as gallery.yourdomain.com. The gallery content and controls still come from Relyve, but the visible address reinforces your own brand throughout the delivery.
The CNAME record is a DNS instruction. It tells browsers that your chosen gallery subdomain should open the Relyve gallery service. Adding the record does not transfer ownership of your domain, and it should not replace the records used by your main website or email.
Why verification can remain pending
DNS updates are not visible everywhere immediately. Your domain provider may publish the new record quickly while other networks still hold the previous result for a while. If the values match the Relyve app, wait and verify again before deleting and recreating the record.
Use a subdomain such as gallery, clients or media. Do not change unrelated DNS records. If your main website or email is affected, restore the previous change with your domain provider and contact support.
