Relyve

Comparison guide

Relyve vs WeTransfer for client delivery.

WeTransfer is excellent at the thing it was built for: getting a large set of files from one person to another with almost no friction. It was never designed to be where a couple returns to their wedding a year later.

The structural difference is time. A transfer is an event with an expiry date attached. A gallery is a place that stays.

WeTransfer details were checked against its official documentation on 28 August 2026. Plans and limits change, so confirm current terms before you decide.

Short answer

They solve different problems.

Choose Relyve when

The content you are sending is the product your client bought, and they should be able to open it, watch it, share it with family, and come back to it later.

Choose WeTransfer when

You need to move a large batch of files to someone once, quickly, and nobody needs to return to that link afterwards.

A Relyve client gallery that stays available after the handoff

Head to head

Relyve and WeTransfer compared.

How long it lasts

Relyve

The gallery stays as part of your delivery rather than counting down to deletion.

WeTransfer

Links expire after up to 3 days on Free and Starter. Paid tiers add custom expiry, but a transfer is still built around an expiry date.

Commercial use

Relyve

Every plan is intended for professional client delivery.

WeTransfer

WeTransfer's pricing page states the free plan is for individual, non-commercial use only, and recommends a paid plan for business or professional work.

Free tier headroom

Relyve

Plans start at 100 GB of storage for your deliveries.

WeTransfer

Free allows up to 10 transfers or 3 GB in total per rolling 30 days, whichever comes first. One wedding can exhaust that in a single send.

What the client opens

Relyve

A branded gallery with a cover, ordered content, and photos and video presented together.

WeTransfer

A download page. Recipients can preview images, video, audio, and PDFs in the browser before downloading.

Watching, not just downloading

Relyve

No compression is applied, so a 4K delivery streams at 4K in the browser on desktop and mobile. The couple can watch before deciding what to save.

WeTransfer

Recipients can preview video in the browser before downloading, but the preview belongs to the transfer and disappears when it expires.

Branding

Relyve

Logo, colours, cover imagery, custom fonts, custom themes, and a custom domain, included on every plan.

WeTransfer

Custom backgrounds, a branded page on a wetransfer.com subdomain, and branded emails, available on Ultimate and above rather than on Free or Starter.

A persistent gallery

Relyve

The delivery is a gallery by default.

WeTransfer

Albums are the closest equivalent, but the owner sets an expiry date at creation and the album becomes inaccessible once it passes.

Client account

Relyve

No account to view or download.

WeTransfer

No account needed to download. If Access Control is enabled, recipients must verify their identity or email first.

Trying it properly

Relyve

With Relyve you get 1 TB free for 30 days, with every feature switched on. Enough room to deliver a real wedding, branded, before you decide anything.

WeTransfer

The free tier allows up to 10 transfers or 3 GB per rolling 30 days and is stated to be for individual, non-commercial use.

Knowing the delivery landed

Relyve

Gallery analytics are included on every plan, across the life of the delivery rather than the life of a link.

WeTransfer

Transfer Activity shows who downloaded and when. Identified visitors appear by email and logged-out ones as Anonymous, and the record lives with the transfer.

Living on the client's phone

Relyve

The couple can save the gallery to their home screen and reopen it like an app, with nothing to install and no account to create.

WeTransfer

A download page is a page. Once the transfer expires there is nothing left for the couple to return to.

Being fair

When WeTransfer is the right answer.

WeTransfer is a good product, and for the jobs it was built for it is better than Relyve. Those jobs are below. What it was not built for is the moment a paying client opens the work they commissioned.

You are sending files, not delivering work

Getting rushes to an editor, sending a print file to a lab, or passing footage to a collaborator is precisely WeTransfer's job and it does it well.

Speed matters more than presentation

There is no faster way to move a big folder with minimal setup. If nobody will look at the link twice, presentation is wasted effort.

You need people to send files to you

WeTransfer's branded personal page is an inbound upload portal. Relyve has no equivalent for collecting files from other people.

You need file-level comments on a transfer

Recipients can preview, comment on individual files, and mark favourites within a transfer, which is useful for feedback rounds.

Documented limits

Each point below is documented by WeTransfer in its own pricing page or help centre, and linked so you can confirm it.

What clients run into.

The free plan is not licensed for client work

WeTransfer's pricing page states the free plan is for individual, non-commercial use only and recommends a paid plan for business or professional use. Any creator delivering paid work on the free tier is outside its intended use.

WeTransfer pricing

Free is capped at 3 GB per month, not per transfer

The limit is 10 transfers or 3 GB in any rolling 30-day window, whichever is reached first. That is cumulative, so a single wedding delivery can consume the entire month's allowance.

WeTransfer plan limits

Links expire in up to 3 days on Free and Starter

A couple who is away for the week, or who forwards the link to family, can easily find it dead before anyone has downloaded anything.

WeTransfer: set or modify expiry

Cancelling deletes your active transfers

WeTransfer documents that if you cancel or downgrade a paid subscription, all active transfers are deleted 28 days later. A quiet off-season could take your clients' links with it.

WeTransfer plan limits

The branded page points inward, not outward

WeTransfer's personal page is a branded subdomain that exists so other people can upload to you. It is a collection portal rather than a client-facing gallery, and WeTransfer notes the URL is not indexable by search engines.

WeTransfer: personal page overview

Keep the storage. Change the handoff.

Most creators keep WeTransfer for archiving and working files, and use Relyve for the moment the client actually opens something. The two are not mutually exclusive, and the trial gives you 1 TB for 30 days with every feature enabled, which is enough to test the difference on a real wedding. Questions creators ask

Can I deliver a wedding on WeTransfer's free plan?

Technically you can send up to 3 GB, but two things get in the way. WeTransfer's pricing page states the free plan is for individual, non-commercial use only, and the 3 GB is a rolling 30-day allowance across up to 10 transfers rather than a per-send limit. For paid client work, a paid tier is the intended route.

How long do WeTransfer links last?

Up to 3 days on the Free and Starter plans. Paid tiers from Ultimate upwards allow custom expiry dates and can recover expired transfers for a limited period. Note also that cancelling or downgrading a paid plan deletes active transfers 28 days later.

Does WeTransfer have client galleries?

Not in the sense of a persistent client-facing gallery. Recipients can preview and comment on files within a transfer, and Albums provide a shared photo and video collection, but the owner sets an expiry date on an Album at creation and it becomes inaccessible afterwards. The branded personal page is for receiving uploads, not delivering them.

Can I put my branding on a WeTransfer delivery?

On Ultimate and above, yes: custom backgrounds per transfer, a branded page on a wetransfer.com subdomain, and branded notification emails. It is not available on Free or Starter, and the branded page sits on WeTransfer's domain rather than your own.

Is password protection a paid WeTransfer feature?

No, and this is a point comparison pages often get wrong. WeTransfer documents password protection and email-restricted access as available on every plan, including Free.

Can I try Relyve before paying for a WeTransfer plan?

Yes. Relyve gives you 1 TB free for 30 days with every feature enabled, including branding, custom domain, and analytics. Since WeTransfer's free tier is documented as non-commercial and capped at 3 GB per rolling 30 days, the trial is a straightforward way to deliver a real wedding and compare the two properly. Join the waitlist and we will let you know when your trial is ready.

Can the couple keep the delivery on their phone?

With Relyve, yes: the couple can save the gallery to their home screen and reopen it like an app, without installing anything or creating an account. A WeTransfer link is a download page with an expiry date, so once it lapses there is nothing left to return to.

Should I use both?

Many creators do. WeTransfer stays useful for sending working files to editors and suppliers, while the delivery a client opens, watches, and returns to lives somewhere built to persist.
