Relyve

Comparison guide

Relyve vs Dropbox for client delivery.

Dropbox is storage and file transfer. Relyve is the handoff. Dropbox will reliably get a folder of wedding photos and clips from you to your couple, but what the couple opens is a file browser with your logo on the background at best.

The question is not which one stores files better. It is what you want the client to experience when they click the link you sent.

Dropbox details were checked against its official documentation on 28 August 2026. Plans and limits change, so confirm current terms before you decide.

Short answer

They solve different problems.

Choose Relyve when

The link you send is part of the service the client paid for, and you want photos and video presented together in your branding rather than listed as files.

Choose Dropbox when

You need a working drive that syncs across devices, holds your archive, and collaborates on files in progress with editors or second shooters.

A branded Relyve client gallery shown on desktop

Head to head

Relyve and Dropbox compared.

What the client opens

Relyve

A gallery built for viewing: cover image, ordered content, and photos and video presented together in one place.

Dropbox

Dropbox's file and folder browser with a preview pane. Branding, on paid plans, adds a logo and background behind that preview.

Branding reach

Relyve

Your logo, colours, cover imagery, custom fonts, custom themes, and a custom domain, included on every plan.

Dropbox

Brand name, logo, background, and social links on paid plans. Dropbox documents that logos and background images only appear for presentations, documents, and image files.

Video quality

Relyve

No compression is applied. Deliver in 4K and the client streams 4K in the browser, on desktop and mobile, inside your gallery.

Dropbox

Original files download at full quality, but the client watches inside Dropbox's preview pane rather than a player in your own delivery.

Photos and video together

Relyve

Stills and vertical clips sit in a single delivery, ordered as one story.

Dropbox

Both file types can live in a folder, but they are listed as files rather than presented as a combined gallery.

Client account

Relyve

No account. The client opens the link, views, and downloads what you allow.

Dropbox

A view-only link works without an account. Dropbox states that to view or edit shared content beyond that, the person must have an account and be signed in.

Download control

Relyve

You choose what can be saved. Clients take individual files or the complete delivery when you enable it.

Dropbox

Disabling downloads, password protection, and link expiry are paid-plan features and are not available on Plus.

Link lifetime

Relyve

The gallery is a delivery you keep, not a transfer with a countdown on it.

Dropbox

Shared links persist, but Dropbox Transfer expires after 7 days by default, with longer windows on higher plans.

Entry pricing

Relyve

Storage-based from 100 GB, with every feature on every plan and no branding tier to climb to.

Dropbox

Basic is free with 2 GB. Plus is $9.99/month for 2 TB but excludes branding, password protection, and link expiry. Team plan names and prices are changing.

Trying it properly

Relyve

With Relyve you get 1 TB free for 30 days, with every feature switched on. That is enough room to deliver a real wedding, branding and all, before you decide anything.

Dropbox

Basic gives you 2 GB free, which is below a single wedding delivery. Trial availability on paid plans varies by plan and region.

Knowing the delivery landed

Relyve

Gallery analytics are included on every plan, so you can see the delivery being opened without asking the client whether it arrived.

Dropbox

Dropbox Transfer includes download notifications and transfer analytics, and viewer history on shared files sits on paid plans.

Living on the client's phone

Relyve

The couple can save the gallery to their home screen and reopen it like an app, with nothing to install and no account to create.

Dropbox

There is a Dropbox mobile app, but it is Dropbox's app rather than your delivery, and Dropbox states that anything beyond viewing requires an account and sign-in.

Being fair

When Dropbox is the right answer.

Dropbox is a good product, and for the jobs it was built for it is better than Relyve. Those jobs are below. What it was not built for is the moment a paying client opens the work they commissioned.

You need real sync and an archive

Relyve is a delivery layer, not a backup or a synced working drive. Dropbox does that job properly and Relyve does not attempt to replace it.

You are collaborating, not delivering

Passing rushes to an editor, sharing a working folder with a second shooter, or keeping a shared team drive is exactly what Dropbox is designed for.

You need structured video review

Dropbox Replay adds timestamped comments, markup, version comparison, and review sessions for video and image approvals. Relyve has no review-and-approval workflow.

You already pay for it and delivery is rare

If you hand over finished work a few times a year, a Dropbox link is a reasonable answer and a second subscription is hard to justify.

Documented limits

These are not opinions about Dropbox. Each one is stated in Dropbox's own product and help documentation, linked so you can check it.

What clients run into.

Your branding does not appear on video

Dropbox's branded sharing documentation states that logos and background images only appear when sharing presentations, documents, or image files. For a wedding content creator delivering vertical clips, that is the delivery where branding matters most.

Dropbox: branded sharing

Branding is not on the entry paid plan

Branded sharing, password-protected links, custom link expiry, and disabling downloads all sit above Plus. A creator paying $9.99/month for 2 TB gets storage, not a branded handoff.

Dropbox: set link permissions

Transfers expire in a week by default

Dropbox Transfer is the closest thing to a delivery product, and it automatically expires after 7 days unless you are on a plan that lets you extend it. Couples routinely come back to their content months later.

Dropbox Transfer

Turning off downloads is best-effort

Dropbox is candid that disabling downloads does not prevent people saving content by other methods, and that it cannot be applied to file types Dropbox cannot preview.

Dropbox: set link permissions

Keep the storage. Change the handoff.

Most creators keep Dropbox for archiving and working files, and use Relyve for the moment the client actually opens something. The two are not mutually exclusive, and the trial gives you 1 TB for 30 days with every feature enabled, which is enough to test the difference on a real wedding. Questions creators ask

Is Relyve a replacement for Dropbox?

No, and it is not meant to be. Dropbox is storage, sync, and collaboration. Relyve is the client-facing delivery on top. Most creators keep both: the archive and working files stay in Dropbox, and the gallery the client opens is Relyve.

Can I just brand my Dropbox links instead?

Partly. On paid plans Dropbox lets you add a brand name, logo, background image, and social links. But its documentation states that logos and background images only appear when sharing presentations, documents, or image files, so a shared video does not carry your branding. You are also still handing the client a file browser rather than a gallery.

What about Dropbox Transfer for delivering weddings?

Transfer is the right shape for a one-way handoff and supports branding and download notifications on paid plans. The limits to weigh are the 7-day default expiry, the per-plan transfer size caps, and the fact that the recipient still gets a download page rather than a gallery they can browse.

Do my clients need a Dropbox account?

Not for a view-only link. Dropbox states that anything beyond viewing requires the recipient to have an account and be signed in. With Relyve, clients never create an account to view or download their delivery.

Can I try Relyve before moving my delivery workflow?

Yes. Relyve gives you 1 TB free for 30 days with every feature enabled, including branding, custom domain, and analytics. That is deliberately enough space to deliver a full wedding and see how the couple reacts before you commit. Join the waitlist and we will let you know when your trial is ready.

Can clients keep the gallery on their phone?

Yes. With Relyve the couple can save the gallery to their home screen and reopen it like an app, without installing anything or creating an account. Dropbox has a mobile app, but that is Dropbox's app and it expects a Dropbox account for more than viewing, which is a different thing from your delivery sitting on their phone.

Is Relyve cheaper than Dropbox?

They are not directly comparable, because Dropbox Plus includes 2 TB at $9.99/month while Relyve prices from 100 GB and includes branding, custom domain, analytics, and unlimited galleries on every tier. If you only need storage, Dropbox is better value per gigabyte. If you need the client experience, the Dropbox features that get you closest sit on higher plans.
